Our People
After nearly two years as an integral part of the A1 team, Tania has stepped up to a new role as Property Manager, looking after a portfolio of mainly new properties all over Christchurch with our fantastic Property Administrator, Cat Belu.
Her energy for life is very infectious, she has a warm, kind heart and quickly puts people at ease – something she demonstrated daily in her role as Property Administrator, supporting Mirjam with our student portfolio.
“For a portion of the year the role was extremely busy, dealing with multitudes of young people who were often renting for the very first time. You needed to wear many hats – Mother, Advisor, Parent, Mediator – I loved this role but the opportunity arose to become a Property Manager so I decided to leap over,” she says.
Tania has spent her entire life in the Canterbury region and currently lives on a small farm West of Christchurch. She and her husband have raised three kids here, now all young adults. Their oldest son has just moved back home after finishing his degree, their daughter has completed her Level 4 in Farming and is working with her own team of dogs in Methven, and their youngest son has just started a building apprenticeship. Tania is very much part of her local community.
“Although the body won’t let me play netball anymore I still stay involved with umpiring and coaching umpires. I have volunteered at the local football club for the past 18 years, holding various roles – for the past six years as Club Gear Manager,” she says.
In her spare time Tania loves camping and now that the kids are more independent she’s embarking on her first short tramp in October.
Tania’s tip from the field: Take care of small maintenance jobs often to avoid things growing into major problems – in the long run this will save you time and money. Always start with the roof/spouting, if this isn’t sound and working properly it will cause major issues that could go undetected for quite some time.
