Meet The Team
Brooke joined the A1 team in 2021. Her role involves supporting one of our fabulous property managers, attending and scheduling viewings, meeting prospective tenants and processing their applications, communicating with owners, tenants and suppliers, along with general admin duties within the office.
Brooke says she really enjoys working with people and meeting new people too. She has been in customer service her entire working life and has a mixture of experience in retail, hospitality and reception.
“My last job was as Store Manager at The Athletes Foot Riccarton and there were a lot of rewarding moments in this role. People often came in with all kinds of crazy issues with their legs and feet… you end up learning A LOT about foot and leg biomechanics and conditions, the role required a fair bit of training. It was awfully rewarding and humbling to see how much I had helped some people through fitting them with the correct shoes,” she says.
Brooke and her partner bought their first property in Dallington in 2020, when a planned trip to Europe fell through thanks to the pandemic, they decided to invest their travel money in property.
Her advice to people looking at buying a house – “Listen to the people who have done it before as they will help a lot.” Brooke found that people were right when they said you would know right away if a property was for you or not, and to trust your gut on “weird vibes.”
“As soon as we walked into our house I knew right away it was what I wanted and we acted super quick to seal the deal. We viewed the house on Sunday, made an offer Monday and the owner confirmed on Tuesday. If we took too long to think about it we would have missed out,” she says.
In her spare time Brooke likes to stay active – in the cold of winter you’ll find her in the gym and in summer she and her partner run, walk and hike. They also have a Golden Retriever pup who is an absolute trouble maker and keeps them constantly on their toes.
“My partner and I have been ballroom dancing for just over a year now in a social class, nothing too crazy, we do a variety of different styles – Quickstep, Cha Cha, Jive, Waltz. I myself have been dancing since I was young, have dabbled in most styles but probably had the most experience with Hip Hop and Musical Theatre/Jazz and Ballroom. I love it, it’s a great way to unwind and connect with people and also a good party trick,” she says.
